NLP Techniques for Overthinking
If anxiety feels overwhelming or you're in crisis: in the US, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). Elsewhere, find a free local helpline at findahelpline.com. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
The inner sentence: "What if I chose wrong? Let me think it through one more time". A kinder reframe: more thinking won't create more certainty; a good-enough decision now beats a perfect one never.
- Pattern Interrupt
A pattern interrupt deliberately breaks an automatic thought or behavior loop with something unexpected, creating a gap where you can choose a different response. - Submodalities
Submodalities are the qualities of your mental images and sounds (size, distance, brightness, volume). - The Meta Model
The meta model is a set of questions that challenge vague, generalized, or distorted language, so you can recover the specific facts behind it. - Perceptual Positions
Perceptual positions has you look at a situation from three viewpoints: your own (first), another person's (second), and a neutral observer's (third). - Timeline Work
Timeline work uses the way people represent past and future in space (a line behind, in front, or beside you) to change the meaning of past events and make goals feel real.
