NLP Techniques for Lack of Motivation
The inner sentence: "I just don't feel like it, what's the point". A kinder reframe: motivation usually follows action, not the other way round; I can borrow energy from the reason this matters.
- Future Pacing
Future pacing means mentally rehearsing a future situation with your new response in place, so the change is ready when the moment comes. - Anchoring
Anchoring pairs a resourceful emotional state with a simple cue (such as pressing thumb and finger together) so you can recall that state on demand. - Submodalities
Submodalities are the qualities of your mental images and sounds (size, distance, brightness, volume). - Timeline Work
Timeline work uses the way people represent past and future in space (a line behind, in front, or beside you) to change the meaning of past events and make goals feel real. - Swish Pattern
The swish pattern links the cue that triggers an unwanted response to a compelling image of the self you want to be, rapidly swapping one for the other.

Honest note: Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is a popular personal-development approach, but its scientific evidence base is limited and it is widely criticized as unsupported (Sturt et al., 2012).
